CIFE, the Center for Individual and Family Effectiveness, was developed as a non-profit organization by Dr. Bertin Glennon in 2001. The vision has been to provide accessible mental health counseling to help individuals and families effectively cope with traumatic life experiences.

Over the past 20 years, the clinical staff at CIFE has garnered respect from many community service organizations, including medical and legal professionals, and state and federal agencies. Additionally, CIFE promotes collaborative consultation between staff members to offer the best practices in the field.

Our clinicians utilize treatment approaches built on understandings of human development and evidence-based practices to foster change. Treatment is designed to help clients gain self awareness and make choices based on their personal goals and values.

Janine Best, LPC-MHSP

Janine Best has been a Licensed Mental Health Service Provider since 2012. Over the years Janine has worked with children and families on a wide range of issues. She has over 20 years of experience working with those experiencing separation and adjustment issues related to custodial changes. In tandem to her work with care disruption, Ms. Best works with those impacted by abuse/ trauma, and children displaying behavioral issues. She is also passionate about working with those caregiving for loved ones.

In addition to her work with children and families, Janine works with individuals struggling with anxiety, anger, depression, self-esteem and young adult issues. Ms. Best enjoys especially working with young women transitioning into adulthood.

Courtney Edwards, LPC-MHSP

Courtney Edwards is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee. She also holds certificates in trauma counseling and sex therapy from Richmont Graduate University. Prior to graduation, she presented her thesis research on Christians’ perceptions of LGBTQ+ church participants at the 2017 American Counseling Association Conference in San Francisco.

Though Courtney works with heterosexual and cisgender individuals with a wide variety of mental health concerns, she specializes in working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. As a member of WPATH, she provides a safe space for individuals to explore their own gender while also giving family members a place to gain an understanding of trans* identities.

Meredith Garreau, MA, NCC

Meredith Garreau (gair-row) is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Post-Masters Intern pursuing licensure in Tennessee under the supervision of Dr. Bertin Glennon, LPC-MHSP, LMFT. She also holds a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University. Additionally, Meredith has presented at national conferences (CAPS 2019, 2020) on the topic of ethics and technology in counseling.

Meredith works with clients who are struggling with relationship issues, social, romantic, or familial. Meredith believes it is important for people and their challenges to be put in context to ensure healing.

Bertin Glennon, PhD,
LPC-MHSP, LMFT, LPE, Clinical Director

Dr. Bertin Glennon has been a practicing psychology as a Licensed Professional Examiner (LPE) for almost 30 years. He is also a founding member of CIFE. He specializes in treating sexual trauma, including psychological assessments.

Dr. Glennon has presented at multiple conferences including, The Tennessee Juvenile Justice Conference, The National Association of Forensic Counselors, and Tennessee Association of Marital and Family Therapists. He has also taught as an adjunct professor at Southern Adventist University and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Dr. Glennon currently serves as the Clinical Director where he supervises and guides other clinicians with his years of experience and insight.

Nathan Harris, LPC-MHSP

Nathan Harris

Nathan Harris is licensed in the state of Tennessee as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP). Although comfortable working with a variety of age groups and mental health concerns, Nathan specializes in working with children, teenagers, and adults experiencing suicidal ideation, emotional disturbance, and PTSD.

Prior to his work at CIFE, Nathan has provided therapy in a wide array of community mental health settings, which has helped to strengthen his overall knowledge of mental health. In addition to his experience, Nathan has a master's degree in mental health counseling and is trained in EMDR.

William Lockett, MA, JD

Bill Lockett has a Master of Arts degree from Richmont Graduate University in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a certificate in Sex Therapy. For over ten years he has provided services to those suffering from trauma relation issues. Focusing primarily on adolescent males, these issues often arise from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as extreme neglect.

David Rose, PhD

Dr. David A. Rose is a founding member of CIFE. Dr. Rose received his PhD from Vanderbilt University specializing in evidenced-based clinical treatment to address: anxiety and depressive disorders; post-traumatic stress disorder; marital enrichment and couples therapy; self-management of chronic illness; sleep/insomnia disorders; communication skills training; parenting capacity assessment; and anger management.

Additionally, Dr. Rose has expertise and advanced training in juvenile and adult forensic evaluation/treatment and expert testimony. Dr. Rose has also provided extensive case consultation with TN Department of Children's Services and state/federal court systems.

Dr. Rose's current specialized clinical interests include: specialized group treatments; PTSD; anxiety disorders; marital/couples therapy; and insomnia/sleep disorders.

Eryn Wilkinson, LPC-MHSP

Eryn Wilkinson is licensed in the state of Tennessee as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health Service Provider and is certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) by the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP). Eryn completed her additional certificates in Sex Therapy and Trauma Counseling at Richmont Graduate University. Eryn has also been trained in EMDR, commonly used in the treatment of traumatic symptoms.

Eryn seeks to establish a caring and comforting relationship with her clients in which they are able to share their stories without fear of judgment. She believes that this relationship is vital when healing from abuse, trauma, and other emotional injury.
